A true leader must dare to put his own ego aside. It is one of the key lessons Jorik learned during his 16 years in various leadership roles at Kempen Capital Management. This is where he arrived after studying Business Econometrics at Erasmus University and positions at ABN AMRO and ING. So what does he think leadership is all about? Enabling teams to flourish from a clear vision by helping people find their talents. By giving freedom and offering an extra push as soon as needed. This vision of leadership connects seamlessly with his own motivation: helping others develop. Sharing knowledge is an important part of that. For instance, Jorik is involved as a board member in Stichting FEEN (Financial Economic Education Netherlands) and regularly gives guest lectures to school pupils and students on the psychology behind financial decisions.

At Whyz, Jorik is particularly active in the, for him familiar, financial sector. Here, together with the rest of the team, he builds on future-proofing organisations by connecting them to new generation leaders. Through his years of experience within the top of the financial sector, he knows what it takes to grow as a person and as a team and what leadership qualities are required to cope with the current transitions. Besides being an analytically strong team player, Jorik is an enthusiastic connector who is curious about what really drives people.
